It is believed that the main deity Mahavishnu was installed by Lord ‘Parasuraman’ himself.  It had a history of thousands and thousands of years. During 1980 a ‘Devaprasanam’ was held in the temple for the renovation works.  In fact, at that time the temple was known as ‘Udayam Cheri Sree Krishna Swamy temple.  Inland records it was found that the temple was under ‘Anandapuram Devaswom’.  In the Devaprasanam it was cleared that the deity is Vishnu and the temple was renamed as ‘Anandapurath Mahavishnu temple’. Now about 15 years have passed since the more temple was renovated and Punaprathishta held.  Besides the main deity of Vishnu, the temple has Prathishta of Ganapathy, Ayyappan, Saraswathy and NagaYakshi as Upadevatas. Recently Dhwaja Prathista’ was also held and Aanappandal was also built.  Kalyana-mandapam is also there, which helps many poor people in the locality for conducting marriage functions. After the Punaprathishta Tiruvutsavam is celebrated every year during Makaram 1 to 8, ‘Mandala Chirapu’ during the period Vrichikam 1 to Dhanu 11 (41 days).  Ashtami Rohini celebration, ‘Poomoodal’ on Guruvayoor Ekadashi day, ‘Vinayaka-Chathurthi’ etc are also being celebrated.  Now the temple has emerged as one of the most important temples in the region.  Lots of people are coming to the temple for a Darshan and pooja. With the rise of ‘Anandapurathappan’ the village has also developed for which we can praise the lord ‘Almighty’ forever.
