This temple is at Kottankulangara in the Alapuzha district, between the Thalavadi and the Kottankulangara temple. Decades ago Madhava Swamy used to worship the serpents and Sree Guruvaayoorappan. He was the first to conduct Aditya pooja in the temple. He also conducted special rituals like Thalichu kuta and Sarppappaattu to please the serpents. There was also a photo of Sree Guruvaayoorappan where he offered worship. Legend says that Kunjambu Achari’s son was ousted from his house as he showed signs of leprosy. He went to a hermitage at Mangalam and got treatment there. He came back with all the wisdom and knowledge he had gained from the
more hermitage. Then he established a Kalari and a temple. This Kalari and temple were taken over by the Viswakarmasabha after he passed away in 1984. Every year thalam is taken from this temple to the Kottankulangara temple festival. Popular belief is that the maidens who lead the procession are married within a year.
