This temple has a known history of four hundred years. It is
considered the original place of the family deity of Kuthiravattam Swaroopam. The temple is closely connected with Pulappatta swaroopam which is related to
the Zamorin family. Legend says that when the princesses were on their way to
Kuthiravattam, Thiruvilayattamma was with them and rested at
Erayoor. Later a temple was built and Goddess Bhadrakali in the gentle form was
consecrated here.
