Chenthitta Devi Temple

History

Chenthitta Devi Temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali, is a serene and historic shrine located in Chenthitta, Thiruvananthapuram, just behind the Central Railway Station and between Thampanoor and Killipalam on National Highway 47. During the Navaratri festival, the temple hosts the deity ‘Munnuty Nanka’ from the Suchindram temple, where the idol is brought and worshipped for 10 days. This tradition draws numerous devotees, making Navaratri a festive and vibrant time here. The temple, managed by the Travancore Devaswom Board, is known for its peaceful ambience and well-maintained premises. The Mangala Kuruthi pooja is a significant ritual performed here. While the temple is tucked slightly away from the main road, more it is accessible by a short walk from Powerhouse Road, where convenient parking is available. The temple grounds also include a sarpa kavu (serpent grove), adding to the spiritual atmosphere.
