Anikkattilamma Siva Parvathy Temple

History

This famous temple is situated at Anicadu, a village near Mallappally in Pathanamthitta district. It is believed to be more than 1600 years old. Lord Siva as Aadiparashakthi and Parvathy in a benign form are consecrated with equal importance in the same sanctum sanctorum. The idols that are 4 feet in height are believed to represent Agnimahakalan and Agniyekshi. Here Lord Siva is consecrated not as a Linga but in the form of a hunter with a trident in his hand. Parvathi Devi is seen holding a sword.  Lord Siva, Bhadra, Nagaraja, Rakshas and Yekshiyamma are consecrated as sub deities. The annual festival is more held in the Malayalam month of Kumbham and it culminates with the Pongala offering.
