Bharatha Temple is located in Kuzhalmannam village in Palakkad District, approximately 15 kilometres from Palakkad and 25 kilometres from Thiruvilwamala. This ancient temple is dedicated to Sree Bharatha Swamy, the brother of Lord Rama from the Ramayana. Once in a state of neglect, it has recently been revitalized by a group of devoted locals who now maintain the temple and ensure regular worship and rituals. The temple is part of a sacred grouping of four temples dedicated to Lord Rama and his three brothers - Bharatha, Lakshmana, and Shatrughna. Visiting all four temples on the same day, especially during the month of Karkidakam (July/August), is considered highly
more auspicious. This practice, known as Nalambala Darshanam, is especially popular in Kerala, where Karkidakam is observed as the month of the Ramayana, with daily recitations of the epic throughout the month. Although individual worship of these temples was common in Malabar, the tradition of Nalambala Darshanam has recently gained popularity across the region.
