This temple has been under the Azhvancherry Thamprakkl since the 16th century. There are two Sancta in the temple compound, one consecrated with the fierce Sree Bhadrkali and the other with the mild Vanadurga. Gurunathan, Nagaraja, Nagayakshi, Uthamasarppam, and Karinagam are the subordinate deities.
