Sree Kongannoor Bhagavathy Temple is situated in Chingapuram, within the village of Moodadi in Kozhikode district, Kerala, approximately 2 kilometres from Nandistop on the Kozhikode Vadakara road. The main deity (prathishta) is installed on Manithoonu, with the shrine facing east. A unique ritual, known as Kavala Pattali Pattola, is associated with the temple. Local beliefs connect Kongannoor Bhagavathy with nearby deities: she is thought to be the sister of Lokanarkavu Amma, or, in another tradition, her daughter. It’s also said that Panagadu Bhagavathy is her grandmother, Vizhiyil Bhagavathy her sister, and Keezhoor Shiva her husband. A traditional procession, once held from Lokanarkavu Temple to Kongannoor Temple, was performed
more without elephants. Drums, kombu, and kuzhal provided music, but upon returning, there was silence, as it is believed Lokanarkavu Amma lulled Kongannoor Bhagavathy to sleep before departing. The music resumed only a kilometre away from the temple. This ritual, however, is no longer practised.
