This is one of the Thali temples consecrated by Lord Parasurama. The Lord is consecrated as Kiratha as he appeared before Arjuna to bless him with the Pasupathasthra. Veera Rakshass, representing Kayamkulam King is also consecrated here. He is given equal importance with Lod Siva and Goddess Parvathy. Deeparadhana is offered to the three deities every day. This area was once under the Kayamkulam royal dynasty. Many names even now prevalent, like Kottaykkakam, Palliyambil, Kottayil Akathattu and Pankikulam are connected with the royal family.
