Challiyil Eswaramangalath Shree Parvathy Temple, located in Methala, Thrissur district, is a historic temple believed to have been established in the 16th century. According to tradition, this temple, known as Dharmadeiva Kshethram in Easwaramangalam, was founded alongside a 'Kalari' or martial arts training centre. The Kalari, situated at Melthala (now called Methala in Kodungallur Taluk), was once a key martial arts hub for the Kodungallur princely state. The land for both the temple and Kalari was a tax-free grant from the ruling prince of Kodungallur. Initially, the main deities were Bhadrakali and Khantakarnan. However, under the guidance of the scholar Sankaran Asan, the temple was later renovated,
more and the primary deities became Sree Parvathy, Murukan, and Ganapathi. Today, the temple honours several deities, including Sree Parvathy, Bhadrakali, Ayyappan, Murukan, Ganapathi, Hanuman Swamy, Karinagam, Maninagam, Gurumuthappan, Khantakarnan, Veerabhadran, Bhairavan, and Maruthamuthi. It is widely believed that sincere worship at this sacred site can help fulfil devotees’ wishes, such as overcoming obstacles in marriage, achieving success in career and finances, enhancing health, and attaining prosperity.
