Located in Chengamanad, Ernakulam, the Poickattussery Sreekurumbakkav Bhagavathy Temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. Around 300 years ago, a platform (Thara) stood near the ruins of an old Devi Temple, where the deity of Khandakarnan was worshipped by the Pulaya community. One day, a Pulaya woman came to gather grass in this secluded, forested area and began sharpening her sickle on a large flat rock. To her astonishment, blood began to flow from the spot she rubbed. Frightened, she called for help, and villagers gathered to witness this miraculous sight. Upon hearing of the event, the local ruler, Thaliyathiri, arrived with the eldest member (Karanavar) of Chengamanad
more East Warriam. Recognizing this as the presence of Adiparashakti, or Jagadambika, they immediately arranged for poojas. Since then, the temple has held annual rituals, including Mudiyettu and Thalappoli, in honour of the Divine Mother.
