Sree Vairamkode Bhagavathy Temple

History

Variamkode Bhagavathy temple is in Malappuram District and is historically important. There are many legendary stories about the temple. It is believed that the sister of Kodungallur Sree Kurumba Bhagavathy, crossing Bharathapuzha reached Aathavanad Azhanchery Mana. The members of that Mana felt the presence of Devi and after astrological calculations placed Devi in a very suitable place. The temple is situated in Vairamkode of Thirunnavaya Panjayath in Malappuram District. From Thirunnavaya Railway Station-3 kms, via Puthenathany-7 kms, and Thirur-10 kms are the distances towards the temple. Temple administration is done by the HR&CE department. Main offerings to Devi are Daily pooja, Pushpam Moodal, Chuttuvilakku, Koottupayasam, Thrikalapooja, more Ada, Appam, Sathrusamhara pushpanjali, Swayamvaramanthra pushpanjali, Lalithasahasranama pushpanjali, Bhagyasooktha pushpanjali, Aikyamathyasooktha pushpanjali, Vilakkumala, Vedi, Ney Vilakku, Ganapathy Homam, Rakthapushpanjali, Deha pushpanjali, Muttarukkal, Kadina Payasam, Payasam, Vellanivedhyam etc. The main festival of the temple is Theeyattu during the month of Kumbham. The 1st Sunday of the Kumbham festival starts with Maram Muri followed on Tuesday by the small Theeyattu festival and on Friday by the Big Theeyattu festival.  Makara Chovva is celebrated on the 1st Tuesday of the month Makaram. Prathishta day in Pooyam star of the month Mithunam and Nattuthalappoly during the last Friday of the month Meenam also are celebrated as special days. Renovation works are going on with the settlement of all problems shown in Ashtamangalya Prasna conducted in the temple with the blessings of Devi and the devotee’s benevolence.
