This temple is situated in
Chandanakavu, near Mullakkal, in the heart of Alappuzha Town. It was home to an
ancient family known as the Annavi family, who practised teaching, poojas,
Ayurveda, and astrology. They worshipped Goddess Saraswathi and had a small
shrine there. All teaching and art training took place in the temple.
Navarathri is celebrated lavishly here. The Annavi Saraswathi temple is one of
the few places in Alappuzha where Vidyarambham has been conducted for
centuries. Many artists, including some from Tamil Nadu, performed during the
Navarathri festival.
