Pulinelli Erattakulangara Bhagavathy Temple

History

Located about 5 km from Kuzhalmannam in Mathur, near the Palakkad - Thrissur bypass, the Pulinelli Erattakulangara Bhagavati Temple is a renowned shrine in Kerala. Nestled amidst vast paddy fields and surrounded by various trees, this temple is known for its serene and natural setting. The temple's deity, Goddess Bhagavati, is believed to be self-manifested, appearing in a celestial stone beneath a cluster of sacred trees. The temple gets its name from the two ponds (kulams) a smaller one enclosed by a larger one, giving rise to the name “Erattakulam,” meaning twin ponds. The shrine, along with its surrounding trees and creeper-covered pool, is deeply connected with more nature, making it a cherished spiritual site in the agricultural heartland of Palakkad, often called the rice bowl of Kerala.
