Sree Ardhanareeswara Temple is situated in Kumbalangi, in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. This temple holds immense significance as the deity, Ardhanarishwara (a unique form representing both Shiva and Parvati, symbolizing the union of masculine and feminine energies), was consecrated by the revered social reformer, Sri Narayana Guru. The consecration (pratishta) took place in Kollavarsham 1083, under the Rohini Nakshatra, during the month of Kumbham. The temple is especially vibrant during Mahashivratri, with special pujas held on Mondays and Pradosham, a bi-monthly observance, being of particular importance.
