Payyavoor Siva Temple

History

This temple is in Kannur district, lying close to the Kerala-Karnataka border. The Shiva linga is self-originated and much below the ground level.  Lord Siva is worshipped as Kiratha Moorthy or Vettekaran. The sanctum faces the east. Ayappa and Someswari are the subordinate deities consecrated at the temple.
